To promote cost-effectiveness and assure accountability, Local Health Departments implement successful strategies that are known to work. By structuring activities utilizing a best practice approach has shown to increase the effectiveness of programs.
It is also essential to understand the special characteristics of a community when determining what existing best practices or strategies should be implemented. When the resources are available to address a health problem, a community may begin to choose an appropriate program or strategy.
The purpose of this practice exchange is to aggregate Michigan Local Health Departments' practices for prevention and intervention strategies and making them available in one place. Through sharing of practices on the MALPH website will improve networking, coordination, standardization, and cross-jurisdictional cooperation for the efficient delivery of public health services to effectively and efficiently implement new innovations.
