Under the supervision of the Environmental Health Supervisor performs duties such as inspections, evaluations of premises and establishments having public health significance, such as food service establishments, private and public onsite water supplies, private and commercial onsite sewage systems, camps, mobile home parks, child care facilities, public swimming pools, spa pools, and bathing beaches. This position will be responsible for preparation of correspondence and reports pertaining to service activities in a timely manner. Evaluates site conditions prior to issuance of permits. Monitors permit compliance during construction and upon completion of work. Collects water samples from water supplies and bathing beaches. The person in this position is frequently required to make judgments using his/her professional expertise relating to compliance with state and local Environmental Health regulations. This position requires ability to work in office setting as well as outside in various environmental conditions including rain, snow, and summer heat. Must be able to work under stress, meet deadlines, have organizational skills, and work under own initiative. This individual must be able to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers as well as general public in all areas of the Health Department.
