This position serves as the Noncommunity Drinking Water program analyst for analyzing and reporting technical drinking water and environmental health program activities related to the requirements of the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Act 399 of 1976. The position works with compliance and enforcement information related to approximately 9,600 noncommunity drinking water supplies supervised by 44 local health departments (LHD) under contract with EGLE.
This position gathers, reviews, and summarizes data used to assess compliance with program requirements and to assess impacts of program strategies and regulations for protecting public health. This position is responsible for stewarding data, determining compliance, and updating reports.
Under the guidance and direction of the supervisor or senior staff, this position uses their science background as they learn about existing laws, rules, and policies. With time, they become a resource who is relied upon to provide information derived from data to assist with program evaluations, compliance determinations, enforcement actions, and to improve data quality.
