REA workshop provide attendees with a deep-dive into Public Act 233, which grants the Michigan Public Service Commission permitting authority over large, utility-scale renewable energy projects under certain circumstances.
EGLE staff will be joined by a guest speaker from UM’s Center for EmPowering Communities, and each workshop offers plenty of opportunity for questions and to discuss zoning options that best reflect each community’s interest. Please join us to learn:
- The basics of large, utility-scale renewable energy.
- Planning and zoning for these technologies under the new siting landscape.
- Processes of PA 233, zoning pathways, and “workability options.”
This workshop will not be focusing on policy and rather is meant to provide neutral guidance and spark discussions around what options best reflect your municipality’s interests. The intended audience are local government officials, planning commissioners, planning staff, etc.
Please complete one registration form per municipality for no more than four attendees for the following session.
Registrants for the Central Upper Peninsula session have additional session options for registration, including a session detailing our MI Healthy Climate Plan implementation and funding opportunities. Local units of government, don't miss out! See the agenda to learn more about all of the many sessions offered for local officials. The REA workshop and MI Healthy Climate Plan sessions on March 13 are also free of charge.
