Kent County Health Deparment
MDARD has arranged for a free advanced media training course for local health department PIOs. The course will be held Wednesday, June 13, at the Kent County Health Department in Grand Rapids. The training will be provided by Brad Wurfel, Director, Kandler Reed Khoury and Muchmore. Brad brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in media relations and crisis communications. The training will cover a variety of topics, including tips on how to build relationships with local media, how to create a voice for your department, PR on a shoestring budget, social media best practices and much more. There will also be time for a limited number of people to practice on-camera media interviews.
Check-in for the training and a continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. The training session will run from 9 am to about 3:30 pm, including a group discussion at the end of the day.
Lunch and breaks will be provided by MDARD, and training materials will be provided by KRKM. Please note: the training is limited to the first 35 registrants, so please register early!
Registration is open until the course is full or until June 4, 2018. You will receive a confirmation email when you register (please allow 2-3 business days for confirmation). If you have accommodation or special dietary needs, please indicate these on your registration.
If you need overnight accommodations the night before, please be aware that the LPGA tournament will be held in Grand Rapids during the same time, so reserve your room asap!
