There has been a significant amount of publications over the past two decades about the oral health-systemic health connection. These papers demonstrate a clear cost savings to insurers who hold both medical and dental insurance on beneficiaries. Many have indicated better health outcomes and even longer lifespan when individuals have access to dental care. Most authors conclude there is an association between oral health and systemic health but only a few authors have suggested there is a causal link. This series will present the economic and health benefits of dental care on systemic health. This second session will discuss the associations between oral health and economic health.
