What steps can clinics and other health organizations take to assess and ensure services are leading to equitable care? This training will provide tips and strategies for greater inclusivity and enhancing diversity in staffing as well as in patient care.
Guest speakers, Dr. Angie Settle, CEO of West Virginia Health Right, and Shayla Leftridge, Director of Community Outreach, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at West Virginia Health Right, will provide a play-by-play, start-to-finish of the processes West Virginia Health Right followed to assess current-state of practice, and the journey for reaching our goals as a practice leader in providing equitable care and being an equitable employer.
The process for conducting a self-assessment and a door-to-door community survey will be discussed, and how this had led to impactful outcomes, including more diverse staff, new satellite clinic and programs established in the state's most diverse and underserved community, and the organization’s recent addition of the CommUNITY Wellness Center and future plans.
This training is hosted by Healthcare Ready in partnership with the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) through the Restoring the Healthcare Workforce for Equity program. The program aims to help healthcare workers and advocates to achieve greater support and resources as communities hardest hit by COVID-19 continue to navigate recovery. Funding is provided by the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) COVID-19 Response Fund, which provides support for nonprofit organizations working directly to respond to the pandemic among vulnerable populations to help build their capacity and address the most pressing needs.
