12:30pm-2:00pm ET
This workshop will provide an overview of the process used by a university research team and county health department that collaboratively developed the Racial Justice Impact Assessment (RJIA) tool. This tool aims to help the health department answer “how is racism operating here?” and recommend anti-racist policies and practices. The project was grounded in anti-racist concepts including public health critical race praxis, community-based participatory research, and bounded justice. Lessons learned from the workshop can help local and state health department practitioners apply anti-racist principles in their work, using implementation strategies from the RJIA tool.
We will offer this workshop twice, on Nov. 19 and Nov. 21, so please only enroll in one (1) offering. Registration is first-come, first-served in an effort to ensure meaningful participation.
Note on Accessibility: This live session will have auto-transcription in Zoom. Slides will be provided prior to the session. ASL interpretation will be provided only during the Nov. 19 offering. No recording will be available. For additional accommodation requests, please email us at rvphtc@umich.edu.
Audience
People interested in learning how to operationalize principles of anti-racism are encouraged to attend. We prioritize those working in governmental public health settings in Region V states (IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, and WI) and their institution has received Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) funding. We ask for pairs from PHIG recipient agencies to attend together to learn how to apply the ARCC framework in their setting.
