Advisory Commitee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)
The ACIP is the Immunization Practices (ACIP) comprises medical and public health experts who develop recommendations on the use of vaccines in the civilian population of the United States. The recommendations stand as public health guidance for safe use of vaccines and related biological products.
The Committee meets three times annually at the CDC. Meetings are open to the public and available online via webcast. During the meetings, members and CDC staff present findings and discuss vaccine research and scientific data related to vaccine effectiveness and safety, clinical trial results, and manufacturer’s labeling or package insert information. Outbreaks of vaccine-preventable disease or changes in vaccine supply, such as vaccine shortages, also are reviewed during meetings.

NVAC
National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC)
The National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) recommends ways to achieve optimal prevention of human infectious diseases through vaccine development, and provides direction to prevent adverse reactions to vaccines.
NVAC has a number of functions, including studying and recommending ways to encourage the availability of an adequate supply of safe and effective vaccination products in the US, recommending research priorities and other measures to enhance the safety and efficacy of vaccines, advising the Director of the Program in implementation of sections 2102 and 2103 of the Public Health Service Act, which covers vaccines, vaccine research, etc.
MACI
Michigan Advisory Commitee on Immunizations (MACI)
The Michigan Advisory Committee on Immunization (MACI) is an advisory board comprised of public and private sector organizations that make recommendations to the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) on immunization programs and policies, including school communicable disease rules. MACI’s mission is to reduce the cost and burden of vaccine-preventable diseases in the state of Michigan by advising MDCH regarding effective strategies on promoting and maximizing the safe and effective use of vaccines in Michigan.
